Katie coached me through the early days of a career change, as I left behind a corporate job to pursue creative writing. I initially felt overwhelmed by possibility, but together we identified tangible goals and then Katie kept me accountable to those goals. She helped me to develop a writing practice and routine, introduced me to literary journals, and challenged me with prompts and assignments that stretched my imagination. With her guidance, I was able to bring to life writing projects that had previously just been one-line concepts. Moreover, Katie's encouraging coaching style gave me confidence in my ideas and my voice as a writer. Her eye for editing and her thoughtful coaching would be an asset to any writer.

Editing
I’m available to edit manuscripts, essays, and stories. I can help you find your focus for an early draft or fine-tune a near-finished piece. I’ll also offer light line and copy edits and chat with you after to answer any lingering questions. I edit with a gentle but thorough approach that centers your vision, voice, and aesthetic. I’m an especially good editor for hybrid essays, voice-driven fiction, and projects that don’t necessarily hinge on plot or linear progression. The best way to know if I’d be a good fit for your project is to read my work.
Manuscripts up to 60,000 words + 45 min meeting after: $1200
Essays/ stories up to 5000 words + 30 min meeting after: $275

I couldn't be happier or more relieved that I chose to work with Katie on my manuscript. She is deeply thoughtful, and made gentle suggestions that helped me see the path forward. I would recommend her to anyone, from those starting out and needing generative suggestions to those finishing the final touches on their project, or anywhere in between.

The qualities I so value in Katie's work are the ones she brings to her editorial feedback. Her gentle insights, which draw from a lifetime of artmaking and collaboration and experience, pinpoint exactly the right questions to ask about a project to bring it to a more satisfying completion. I know my books would not be the same without her generosity and time.
—Sam Heaps, writer and professor at Temple University
Katie's feedback balances affirmation with rigor—she's as committed to naming what's working as she is to improving clarity and flow. Her editing is holistic and deeply respectful of a writer's individual voice and vision.
